Saturday, Evening Hours Planned for Landfill
The City of Midland Sanitary Landfill will offer Saturday hours beginning April 1, 2023, and will also introduce new Wednesday evening hours.
New in 2023, the Landfill will be open from 7 am – 2 pm on select Saturdays from April through November. In 2023, the Landfill will be open on the following Saturdays: April 1, May 6, June 3, July 1, July 8 (following Independence Day holiday), August 5, September 9, October 7, November 4, November 25 (following Thanksgiving holiday), and December 30 (following Christmas holiday). It will be closed on all other Saturdays.
Additionally, the Landfill will also offer evening hours, open until 6 pm on Wednesdays April through November. The Landfill is open 8 am – 4 pm every other weekday.
Household Hazardous Waste Collection Dates Announced
The City of Midland Sanitary Landfill has announced the 2023 dates for household hazardous waste collection:
- Tuesday, April 18
- Thursday, June 22
- Wednesday, August 23
- Tuesday, October 24
On these dates, at no charge, Midland County residents may dispose of household items that are considered hazardous, such as chemicals, oil-based paints and stains, pesticides, insecticides, cleaning products, certain auto products, and mercury. To dispose of unused or outdated medications, visit the Dump Your Drugs drop-off in the lobby of the Law Enforcement Center during normal business hours.
Residents must schedule an appointment with the Midland County Department of Public Health Department online at http://bit.ly/midlandwaste or at 989-832-6681 in advance of the collection dates to take advantage of this service. Be prepared to indicate the type and amount of materials you wish to drop off. Only residents with appointments will be allowed to drop off materials. Large quantities of materials or materials generated from a commercial business will not be accepted. Electronic items such as cell phones, computers, printers, cords, wires, and batteries are accepted daily at Midland Recyclers, 4305 E. Ashman, located at the Landfill entrance. Due to the popularity of this free program, high traffic volumes are anticipated at the Landfill on these dates and appointment availability will go quickly. Residents’ patience is appreciated.
